Our Programs

Delivering sustainable, utility-grade access to clean and safe water

Starrus Foundation’s programs focus on providing long-term, reliable access to clean and safe drinking water in underserved communities. As a W80 Public Utility Services nonprofit, we design, install, and support modern water infrastructure—such as solar-powered wells, high-capacity boreholes, purification systems, and prepaid water ATMs—to ensure 24/7 access for families, schools, and health facilities. Our approach goes beyond installation. We combine technology, community leadership, and ongoing monitoring to ensure every water system remains functional, sustainable, and affordable for generations.

Why Us?

1. Personal Commitment Rooted in Lived Experience Starrus Foundation was co-founded by a U.S. veteran and his Kenyan wife, who was born and raised in Kitui—the very first region we serve. This personal connection gives us real-world understanding of water scarcity, community needs, and the urgency of reliable solutions. Our work is driven by purpose, responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to the people we serve.

2. Proven Expertise and Ground-Level Results We go beyond intention—We deliver measurable, life-changing results—not theories. Through research, field testing, and community collaboration, we successfully drilled a 610-foot utility-grade well producing up to 10,000 liters of clean water daily. This accomplishment shows our ability to transform vision into sustainable, high-impact infrastructure.

3. Full Transparency & Accountability Trust is at the heart of our foundation. We keep donors and community partners informed with clear updates, financial transparency, and honest communication about our progress and challenges. Every contribution is traceable, and you always know how your investment changes lives.

4. Scalable Technology and Innovation We combine solar-powered pumping, advanced purification, and AqTAP prepaid water ATM systems to create community-managed, trackable, and sustainable water access. This model allows us to scale efficiently and replicate success across other underserved regions in Africa and beyond.

Benefits to Individuals and the Community:

1. Improved Health and Disease Prevention Reliable access to clean water dramatically lowers the risk of cholera, typhoid, diarrhea, and other waterborne illnesses. Healthier individuals create healthier communities.

2. Expanded Educational Opportunities When children no longer spend hours walking to fetch unsafe water—especially girls—they can attend school consistently and focus on learning instead of survival.

3. Community Empowerment & Local Ownership Our model includes community engagement, education, and training to ensure long-term success. Local ownership and participation empower residents to manage and maintain the water systems, building self-sufficiency from the ground up.

4. Economic Growth and Productivity Clean water supports farming, small businesses, livestock, and everyday living. Families become healthier, communities become more productive, and new income opportunities arise.

5. Scalable Global Impact Each successful project becomes a replicable model that can be expanded to other underserved communities—multiplying impact and spreading hope, health, and opportunity throughout Africa and beyond.
